Grip without giving way

Badminton is played on the balls of the feet with constant stopping and lunging. The floor has to grip enough to push off from, and give enough to protect ankles and knees.

PVC vinyl sports flooring is the practical answer for most halls — the right friction, a cushioned core, and it lays over a levelled screed in days.

PVC vinyl roll

4.5–8 mm cushioned vinyl. The most common indoor badminton surface.

Wooden sprung floor

Timber on a sprung sub-frame. Premium feel, higher cost.

Modular tile court

Interlocking tiles for a fast, relocatable court.

Outdoor badminton over concrete where an indoor hall is not available.

Badminton FAQ

What ceiling height does a badminton court need?

Nine metres clear over the court is the standard. Seven to eight can work for recreational play but will interfere with high clears.

How many courts fit in a hall?

Allow roughly 18 m × 10 m per court including run-off. A 40 m × 22 m hall takes four courts comfortably.

Vinyl or wooden flooring?

Vinyl for most clubs — the performance is close and the cost and upkeep are far lower. Wooden sprung floors suit premium venues.
